The following welcome message was sent to 6th-grade families Aug. 28 and also posted on the school website’s STEMbyTAF home page.
Dear WMS Junior Husky Students and Families,
It is a pleasure to partner with Seattle Public School District and Washington Middle School (WMS), to welcome your child as an incoming Junior Husky! To start off the year right, we would like to schedule a Technology Access Foundation (TAF) Town Hall Meet and Greet Monday, August 31st at 6:00PM – 7:00PM. This is an opportunity to learn more about the TAF and WMS partnership, meet the TAF/ WMS teachers and administrative staff, to answer questions, and offer other important information that will enable us to make this a very positive and rewarding year. In our experience, open lines of communication between the parent(s), student, and teachers are the key to promoting an educational climate that is conducive to learning. We look forward to working with you and your child. Together we can make a difference! You can help by sending your questions prior to our Town Hall meeting, in an attempt to address as many inquiries possible during the meeting.
Please click link here to enter your questions: We will do our best to answer as many as we can during the allotted time.
During the school year, students will be working with their teachers using student-centered instruction that involves a dynamic classroom approach. Students will acquire a deeper knowledge through active exploration of real-world challenges and problems, also known as project-based learning. There will be cross-collaboration among students and teachers from varying disciplines and an opportunity to showcase their work with their peers and community, similar to our Junior Huskies Summer Academy!
You will receive additional communication throughout the school year via email or Robocall. In addition, you may be inclined to download the Washington Middle School app on your phone to receive daily/weekly updates and learn about upcoming events.
We look forward to building a relationship with you and your child, and to provide the best educational experience throughout your student’s time at Washington Middle School. Please feel free to contact us at any time if there is a question or situation you would like to discuss.
Please click here to join on Monday, August 31st at 6:00PM to join TAF Town Hall Meet and Greet.
