The PTSA proudly supports the Washington Middle School Clothing Closet, which provides students with access to free clothing items. The WMS Clothing Closet ensures every student has access to clothing that helps them feel comfortable, confident, and ready to engage with their peers—without worrying about what they are wearing.

The Clothing Closet is stocked with clean, gently used, and new clothing that middle school students will enjoy wearing. Items include shirts, sweaters, jeans, pants, sweats, tops, coats, socks, and underwear. Depending on donations, shoes and accessories such as belts may also be available.

The Clothing Closet is available for any student who may need a change of clothes during the school day. Likewise, students in the band or orchestra programs are welcome to check the Clothing Closet to see if concert-appropriate attire—such as black shirts or pants—is available in their size.

Students can access the Clothing Closet by contacting their academic counselor or the school social worker during school hours.

How to Support the Clothing Closet

The WMS Clothing Closet depends on the generosity of the community. We gratefully accept new and gently used clothing in excellent condition—items that are appropriate for middle school students and help them feel confident and cared for.

Donations can be dropped off at Washington Middle School during regular school hours.

If your band or orchestra student has outgrown their music program logo shirt or other concert-appropriate clothing such as shirts, pants, or dresses that are still in good condition, please consider donating them to the Clothing Closet.

The WMS Counseling Department has curated a Wish List of new items that are frequently needed in the Clothing Closet. You can purchase items directly from this list or use it as a guide when buying new items to donate.

Do you have a group looking for a meaningful activity and a way to give back to the community? Maybe your department at work or another group you’re involved with?

Consider working together to purchase supplies and make it a group project to assemble Hygiene Kits for donation to the WMS Clothing Closet, where school staff can access them for WMS students in need.

Good hygiene is an important part of every student’s health, wellness, and self-esteem. Having ready-made hygiene kits on hand allows staff to provide immediate support to students who may need a little extra help outside of school.

Every student deserves to look and feel good each day—and your group’s contribution can make a meaningful difference!

Pack new full-size items in a large zip-top bag (or similar type of bag).
